Brenda Barker
Brenda Barker Scott is a faculty member with Queen's University Industrial Relations Centre and the designer of the professional development programs offered in the Queen's Certificates in Organization Development, Human Resources Management, and Industrial Relations. She is a trainer in many IRC programs including Building Smart Teams, Change Management, Negotiation Skills, Organization Development, Organizational Design, and Partnership Development. Brenda teaches change management in the Queen's Executive Master of Public Administration Program and the Master of Business Administration for Science and Technology, and has supervised students pursuing their Master of Industrial Relations. A frequent presenter, Brenda has been a keynote speaker for organizations such OD Net and Human Resources Planners Association of Ontario. As an OD consultant, Brenda recently led an ambitious system-wide organization design effort with Algonquin Lakeshore Catholic District School Board.
As a facilitator and consultant, Brenda has worked with practitioners across the country and internationally. Her clients include Pfizer Canada, Suncor, AGF, City of Kingston, Human Resources Development Canada, Canadian Nurses Association, Computing Devices Canada, Ciba Speciality, Chemicals, Barbados Light and Power Co. Ltd., and Hawkesbury General Hospital.
Brenda is co-author, with Carol Beatty, of Building Smart Teams: A Roadmap to High Performance (Sage Publications 2004). For more details or to buy the book, please click here. Brenda is currently collaborating with Dr. Beatty on a book of case studies highlighting successful Canadian change initiatives.
