Author biography:

Bryan M. Downie was a long-time professor at Queen's University, and was Director of the School of Industrial Relations and the Industrial Relations Centre at Queen's. He had considerable experience in the fields of labour relations and conflict resolution as a teacher and lecturer, as a third party neutral, as President of the Canadian Industrial Relations Association, and as a member of the Education Relations Commission. Prof. Downie passed away in 1998.
