Paul Juniper Selected as Queen's IRC Director

Paul Juniper, a leading and respected figure in Canada’s human resources community, has been named Director of the Queen’s University Industrial Relations Centre.

Mr. Juniper has 25 years of experience in human resources and association leadership. He served as Vice-President of Human Resources for national and international companies, and manages a Toronto-based consultancy focusing on strategic planning and recruitment. He has taught in both college and university environments.

An active volunteer in HR associations, Mr. Juniper was interim CEO of the Human Resources Professionals Association of Ontario (HRPAO) and was instrumental in the adoption of a degree requirement for certification in HR. He is a former member of the Board of Directors of the Canadian Council of HR Associations (CCHRA) and is a member of the Independent Board of Examiners for CCHRA.

Mr. Juniper is also a member of:

  • the Advisory Board of The Banff Centre's Leadership Development unit;
  • the Canadian Society of Training and Development planning committee preparing for the International Federation of Training and Development Organization World Conference in Toronto in 2009; and
  • the Program Advisory Committee of Conestoga College's Bachelor of Applied Business program.

“I am very enthusiastic about this opportunity,” says Mr. Juniper. “The IRC holds a special place in people management training in Canada. It has always been ahead of the curve in both delivery and content of its programs. Inheriting such a solid foundation, I’m looking forward to helping build the Centre even further in its core areas of IR and OD and leveraging its strengths into new areas.”

Mr. Juniper succeeds Carol Beatty, a Queen’s School of Business Professor who completed her second five-year term on June 30. Mr. Juniper’s five-year term begins August 15.

Founded in 1937, Queen’s Industrial Relations Centre is Canada’s leading university-based management development unit for practitioners in industrial relations, human resource management, and organization development. Dedicated to building critical competencies in organizational effectiveness, Queen’s IRC offers three- to five-day open enrolment programs in areas such as dispute resolution, collective bargaining, business strategy, change management, organizational design, leadership development, and team building. The Industrial Relations Centre is also home to a research and publication program that acts as a bridge between the academic and practitioner worlds. The Centre is part of Queen’s School of Policy Studies.
