For immediate release
Robert S. Hickey joins the faculty of the MIR program in the School of Policy Studies
Rob brings a wealth of experience in the labour movement. He worked as an organizer for the Teamsters in various U.S. cities including Seattle, Washington, and Fort Worth, Texas. He joined the School of Industrial and Labor Relations Studies at Cornell University in 2000, earning his MS degree in 2003. His MS thesis was a case study of a labour dispute between Crown Central Petroleum and the Oil workers union. Rob used the case to examine the relationship between collective bargaining strategies and union revitalization efforts. He expanded on this thesis in his dissertation, which he will defend in 2006.
Rob will be teaching the courses Unions and Collective Bargaining and Negotiations and Conflict Resolution.
In other MIR program news, Prof. Chris Riddell becomes Program Director for the coming session.
