Building a Leadership Hothouse for Organizational Transformation

Popular notions of effective leadership are changing dramatically as we move deeper into the knowledge-based economy. We used to see leaders as solitary, John Wayne-type figures, people with all the right answers who commanded loyalty. Nowadays, there is widespread acknowledgement that there are many effective leadership styles, and that organizational leadership refers to more than just the person at the top of the organizational chart.
The most successful organizations are those that attract and nurture a pool of talented leaders. Increasingly, it falls to the OD practitioner to construct an enabling leadership development infrastructure in which nascent leaders acquire the necessary skills and competencies, and are provided the challenge and support they require to blossom.
Using a blend of case studies, jazz metaphors and models, and small learning groups, the Leadership Capacity program offers a foundation in leadership theories to help you develop the competencies you need to work with groups and individuals in order to nurture leadership talent at individual, departmental, and organizational levels.
You will
gain perspective on how leadership has been viewed over time;
learn how to diagnose leadership problem areas;
and acquire the skill to move from proper diagnosis to effective intervention.
By the end of the program, you will have a deeper appreciation for the process of leadership development and be better prepared to facilitate critical conversations in your organization around this issue.
